PEACE POLE GARDEN

In September 2013, The United Methodist Women in collaboration with Thomas Henson proudly unveiled one of the few Community Peace Poles in Northwest Montana. Tens of thousands of Peace Poles have been constructed in over 180 countries all over the world. They serve as constant reminders for us to visualize and pray for world peace.

The WUMC Peace Pole is surrounded by a meditation and prayer garden in the northwest corner of the church property next to the Community Garden. The unique pole was crafted from local trees and originally a telephone pole along Northwest Montana’s famed Highline Trail. The words “Let Peace Prevail” are inscribed in English, Spanish, Swahili, Japanese, Chinese, Swedish, Hebrew, and Blackfeet. Thomas Henson oversaw and constructed the project as a means to acquire his Eagle Scout badge.
